             The PSU engineering home page is a website with news and information covering all aspects of the Penn State College of Engineering. If you’re looking for news about what’s happening in PSU engineering, this is a great site to check out. Here, there’s lots of info to be found about the college, research, fields of study, and a directory of professors, just to name some stuff that can be found on the site.  It’s the most basic and general guide to Penn State engineering around.

            Stay up to date on what’s going on in the world of Mechanical Engineering.  This site has a student center that covers a wide range of information including everything from job postings to information about the current average salary of Mechanical engineers. When is comes to mechanical engineering, this societies web page is the one to visit.

This site contains brief biographies that have been prepared to give readers an idea of where engineering has been, and where it is going.  It is a very useful reference to use when writing papers and reports that reference past engineers and their achievements.

Journal Publication Guidelines

            One specific part of the ASME website that is important enough to have its own abstract is the style guide for submission of technical papers.  At the site, the guide goes over every aspect of what the paper should be like: it’s length, elements in the paper, the title, an abstract, the body, and many more specifications.  If you’re looking to follow the official method of writing a paper, this site can guide you through every part of it.

            When you’re nearing graduation and are interested in joining a professional association, this site is the one to visit to check out your options. The Scholarly Societies Project has listings for over 370 professional associations for mechanical engineering alone! Also, whether your career takes you to a different discipline of engineering or to the other side of the world, this site has listings of societies and dates of conferences in a vast array of subjects all over the globe.

Engineering Village 2 (Compendex)

            At the Engineering Village 2, you can search for articles, papers, and even patents depending on which database you look in. The two most useful are the Compendex database and the US patent office. You can even search in 8 different languages. This is a great site with a huge offering of information to the engineering student whatever subject you’re researching.
